Teranorsk Guide
Teaching you the basics of Teranorsk
Welcome . This is a basic help file to help you understand how the game works.
Getting Started
Teranorsk is made by plasticSarcastic. To log in you must make an account there. Once that is done and you've activated it, simply go to Teranorsk's home page and enter your details. You will be taken to the character creation page.
On the character creation page you pick some basic details such as the warrior's name, favorite color, and motto. After that you can enter the game, and explore Teranorsk!
The Interface
There are three main parts to Teranorsk's interface: Main, Info, and Chat. The main part of the interface is the biggest one you see in the upper-left. Chat is the one on the bottom, and info is on the right.
The main is the part that shows the most important parts of the game, such as the fight you are in, your inventory, or where you are in the world.
The info frame shows information about your character. You can see your attributes, modifiers, experience, wealth, and level. Below that there is a list of online users. The mail icon will set the recipient of a message to the username it is next to. Clicking on the username itself will open a new window with the user's information. And the numbers inside the braces show the user's group and level (respectively). You can also view highscores and search for members in this window.
The chat is a way for you to talk to everyone else on Teranorsk. It refreshes every 30 seconds, and newest messages will be at the bottom. You can send the message to a specific person, or just leave the 'to' field as all. The next box is where you type your message, and the circle icon refreshes the chat box. You can also change your hearing radius, which controls how far away you can hear. Set this to a lower value if your chat box is being flooded. There is also a toggle for showing messages adressed only to you to turn off public chat completely.
In the info area you will see navigation links across the top. You will be using these a lot in Teranorsk. Home takes you to the home page, Reset resets the interface, Exit logs you out, Settings let you change personal settings, World takes you to the map and also shows information about you current location, Inventory brings you to the inventory screen where you can equip items, and Fights will take you to the challenge screen (more on that later).
Developing your Character
When you first make your character, you will receive 4 skill points. These can be distributed between 4 attributes: Strength, Fortitude, Dexterity, and Focus. To upgrade a certain stat, click on the black plus next to the name.
Strength: Controls the physical might of your character. Points on this skill will increase the amount of damage you do in combat.
Fortitude: This skill is the endurance of your character. Points on here will increase your health by 7 points per level.
Dexterity: Dexterity is the agility of your character; it controls how often you are able to dodge attacks.
Focus: A character with a high level of focus will be able to identify and exploit weaknesses in their foe, giving them a higher chance to do double damage on any given attack. It is normally better to put skills on Strength and Fortitude in the beginning, although some players can master the skills of dexterity and focus early on. For each level you gain, you receive one skill point. For each group you advance, you will receive five skill points to distribute however you want.
Special Attacks and Techniques There are three main special moves: dodges, critical hits, and counters. When someone does a dodge, they will avoid all damage for that attack, giving someone with high agility a large advantage. Critical hits will double your base damage for the current hit. They even shatter through blocks: when someone blocks your crit, they will take normal damage instead of double. Each time someone dodges your attack or does a crit on you, there is a chance to counter their special move (this is determined by your dexterity and focus levels). If you do a counter, your foe's special move will be negated and you will do an extra hit.
Fights
Clicking on the Fights link in the info tab will take you to the challenges screen in your area. There are two types of fights: One on One, and Group Fights. To switch between the two displays, click the appropriate link on the right. We will start with one vs ones.
One on One Battles
Here you will see the current challenges, including how long ago they were initiated, the stake, and the timeout. The stake is a certain amount of money that a player gets if he wins, and the timeout is the length of each turn in the battle. If you wish to fight someone, simply click on the button that says fight. The host of the fight will be notified that you wish to challenge them. If they accept, you will be brought to the fight screen (will be described later). If you wish to set your own challenge and have other people challenge you, click "Make a fight" on the right. You will then select a few options for your battle, and after that your challenge will be visible to the public.
Group Fights
Group fights allow potentially hundreds of warriors to battle at the same time. They are available from group two onwards. On the group fight menu, you will see the current challenges. If you look at a particular group fight, you will see who has joined the two teams so far, when the battle starts, and the level limits. To keep fights fair, the host of the group fight can specify a level range in which players must lie inside (for both teams). To join a team, you can use the links below the level limits. You must then wait until the fight starts.
